That's right! "BOSS CHICKS R US - CHICKS R US - CHAPTER I", executive produced by MOI is featured in Ozone Magazine's Issue #81 "Mix CDs To Keep You Awake On The Road" section (2nd row, 1st slot). I was overly excited when I received a text message from Exclusive J of T-Pain's Nappy Boy Digital camp, stating the obvious. What a GREAT honor! Exclusive J, Dj Suga D, and I spent countless hours on end to bring my dream project to life.
With the abundance of testosterone in the rap world, I wanted to add just a tad bit more estrogen to the mix. LOL! My twitter search for unsigned female rappers paid off. I received numerous submissions and selected my favorite tracks. I tapped CT's hardest spittin' femcee, 4Eva, to write "10 Boss Chicks Commandments", a female version of Biggie's "10 Crack Commandments". OoooWeee, boy did she bring IT! I wrote the drops for the project and rallied seasoned rapstresses Rasheeda, Princess of Crime Mob and a budding femcee from Houston, Daanja Grl to deliver. All the females on the project brought their "A" game!!!
Going against the grain, I gave the unsigned/underground female rappers another opportunity to shine by placing their pictures on the album cover with established and well known rap stars: Jacki-O, Princess of Crime Mob, Rasheeda, B-Fly (Game's sister) and rising R&B songstress Nikki Smith (Ne-Yo's sister). Not to mention the opportunity to add a project hosted by Plies' Official Dj, Suga D & mixed by Exclusive J to their musical resume. Suga D & Exclusive J are heavy hitters in the game!
We did NOT charge the ladies a dime to appear on the promo project nor did we earn a dime on the promo project....in fact if we billed for our time, services, etc....Ah heck, I'm not going to go there :). Anyway, one would think one would appreciate the love, right? Right! Wrong! One unsigned artist's manager in particular gave me an ultimatum..."If you don't put her picture at the top with the established artists, I can't help you promote the cd. I'm not gonna do it." WHAT?! Let me see.....she is not going to promote her artist instead she wasted energy giving ME an ultimatum. I don't do those! Oh, Well! It was obvious that she didn't know me well, in fact she didn't know me at all other than via twitter when she submitted her artist's music for consideration. Hmmmmm....so much for her "We industry women have to stick together" statements. O_O Whatevaaaaah.
Did she really think I needed her assistance to realize my dream? HA! I didn't ASK YOU to help me do anything HOMEGIRL...I GOT THIS! I wanted to READ her BUT, I politely and professionally told her my album cover decision was final...Non-Negotiable.
As a rule, I do not allow anyone's craziness to cloud my world, and I damn sure don't adjust my morals, beliefs or business practices because others are shady or down right ridiculous.
